Focus on Wildlife, Water Quality, Flooding and Recreation

March 29 through Sunday, April 1, 2007

The 2007 State of the Laguna Conference and Science Symposium was a tremendous success.  The board, staff and volunteers of the Laguna Foundation wish to thank the many community organizations, scientists, regulatory agencies, public officials and members of the public who came together at Sonoma State University to discuss the Laguna’s future.

As described in Enhancing and Caring for the Laguna, our restoration and management plan PDF file opens in a new window for the Laguna watershed, the Laguna can be a treasured community amenity, providing water quality, flood control, abundant wildlife habitat, sustainable agriculture, and unique recreational and learning experiences.  Over the four days of the Conference, we heard broad and enthusiastic support for the Foundation’s vision of a restored and thriving Laguna, and commitment to being a part of accomplishing that vision on the part of many private and public interests with a stake in the Laguna’s health.

We invite the public to join with us in our efforts to create the Laguna Learning Center, restore the Laguna’s wildlife habitat, improve its waters and hydrological functioning, and develop opportunities for young and old to benefit from the presence of this remarkable wetland complex in our county.  Again, our thanks to all who participated.
