Laguna Water Resources

The Laguna de Santa Rosa hydrologic area is listed as impaired on the federal Clean Water Act Section 303(d) List for sediment, temperature, dissolved oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and mercury. As an extension of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation’s watershed management plan, and as precursor to the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board’s plan of initiating Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) studies of the Laguna de Santa Rosa for parameters currently on the 303(d) list in the next years.

The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, in collaboration with Tetra Tech, Inc., Phil Williams and Associates, and the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board 1- North Coast Region, has developed a water quality conceptual model for the Laguna de Santa Rosa / Mark West Creek watershed. This model serves as a basis for a comprehensive assessment, modeling, and planning framework to coordinate basin-scale activities for flood protection, ecosystem health, water quality (including development of TMDLs), and water management for the Laguna de Santa Rosa
